What are Microgreens?
Microgreens are young, edible seedlings harvested just before or after their first true leaves develop. They are popular in restaurants and health-conscious homes due to their freshness, taste, health benefits and visual appearance.
Some varieties are used simply to add visual interest, by adding interesting colour, leaf shape and texture while others are used for their intense flavour.
In health-conscious homes they are mostly used due to their nutrient density, often containing more vitamins and antioxidants than their mature counterparts.
